Due Diligence

The research a bidder does before a tax sale to understand a property's condition, title, and risks.

Good due diligence covers the parcel's location and boundaries, access, zoning, occupancy, liens, environmental and flood risk, and the county's sale rules.

Most tax sales are as-is, with no refunds for problems found after the sale.

General information, reviewed 2026-10-12. Not legal advice. Rules change and each county publishes its own sale terms; confirm with the county before bidding.
