Struck Off

A parcel that received no qualifying bid at a tax sale and stays with (or goes to) the government.

When nobody bids the minimum, the parcel is typically struck off to the county or state. It may be reoffered later at a lower minimum, sold over the counter, or held.

Struck-off parcels often have problems such as no access, tiny size, or environmental issues. A low later price usually has a reason.

How it works by state

Florida
Florida parcels with no bidder are placed on the list of lands available for taxes, where they can be bought for the opening bid for a period after the sale.
